People have problems when commentators promote the sponsoring bards, “CITI Moment of Success” and “KARBONN Kamaal Catch”. They don’t pay the money but they have a problem with it….
And now the Indian Sports Minister has a problem with IPL and he thinks its spoiling the game of Test Cricket. I think his real problem is he is too old for the change, (Test cricket will always be special and the real deal). Thank god cricket is not controlled by the Indian government; else it would share the pitiful fate of all the other sports in India including Field Hockey, which is supposedly the national game of India.
IPL valued at USD $4.3 Billion is next best thing since ‘Vada Pav’ for India Cricket and the entire world of cricket. Young Indian players get to interact with experienced international players and actually can make a decent living for focusing their lives on cricket. So many new jobs created, yet again the world is looking at India with awe and finally any Indian who is passionate about cricket can look at it as viable career path.
Some people will not change, its like Newton’s first law of motion (and thought), it’s called INERTIA of the old mind.
